Wow, 2006 is a really good fucking year for music.

Even in pop! Wanna know why? Cos the underground is now becoming the mainstream. Gangster bling rappers (50 Cent)are being replaced by a more a breakbeat sound (Kanye West), People only watch X-Factor until the auditions are over and Boy bands are being replaced by...well, bands funnily enough.

Anyhow I'm gonna tell you my favourite pop tunes (as in tunes with videos) of 2006 (in no paticular order).

Nelly Furtado and Timberland

Nelly Furtado f. Timberland - Promiscuous

The return of two familiar faces! Nelly (not that twat with the plaster on his face) and Timberland are back with this absolute banger. Dunno if I've already said this but usually I HATE these sort of tunes with a passion, but I can't deny how much of a banger this is. The keyboards at the chorus does it for me.

ps: Maneater and Sexy Back are shit.

Beck

Beck - Cell Phones Dead

Beck has always been a badman, With classics like 'Devil's Haircut' and 'Loser' under his belt. This new one doesn't exactly stick to his typical rock/rap style, his leaning towards breakbeat hip-hop with this one. The beat is simple as fuck but it makes me dance! The little girl in the video is jokes aswell. I don't think many heads know about this tune but I always see it on E4 Music in the morning.

Lupe

Lupe Fiasco - Kick, Push

I know, Skateboarding is no where as cool as it used to be, but this has gotta be one of the best tunes for me this year. Thanks to Kanye, Lupe Fiasco got big through his verse on 'Touch The Sky.' He also released a new one which is a rip-off of that 'Daydream' tune, that's a bit shit to be honest.
